"Your general mental health is..."

The graph shown above displays the answer to one question asked regarding mental health, which was, "Would you say that, in general, your mental health, which includes stress, depression and problems with emotions, is..."

Roughly 90% considered their mental health as being at least "good," with only ten percent responding with an answer of "fair" or "poor." As the graph shows, groups particularly likely to report lower quality mental health include:

  • Those with less than a 12th grade education;
  • Those in the lowest category of household income (under $10,000 annually);
  • Those who consider themselves as in only "fair" or "poor" physical health.
